Play Equipment

The parish council provides a ‘multi-user games area’ within the playing fields in Wood Lane, Shilton for children of the two villages to enjoy.

Facilities include a slide, swings, climbing equipment, basketball hoop and goal area. The equipment undergoes a yearly safety inspection by an accredited assessor, along with more frequent checks by the parish council itself. However, if you observe a defect with any of the equipment within the play area, please contact the parish council clerk.

Shilton Playing Field

Shilton playing fields are provided for the residents of Shilton and Barnacle and visitors to the parish for their general recreational use and enjoyment.

They are not permitted to be used, without the prior written permission from Shilton & Barnacle Parish Council, by any commercial organisation or individual where a fee has been charged for participation in a recreational activity. All users of the playing fields are required to do so in a considerate manner, ensuring that their use does not unreasonably impact or intrude on the enjoyment of other users of the playing fields.

Grass Cutting

The grass cutting service is underataken by a contractor on behalf of the parish council and the parish council has specified that all public areas should be cut, on average, every two weeks between the months of April – October.

Additional cuts can be arranged if they are required.

Cemetery

Any member of the public may be buried, or have their ashes interned, within the cemetery, although the fees charged by the parish council will be tripled for those who did not reside in Shilton or Barnacle.

The cemetery is located between St Andrew’s church and Shilton garage, and has very limited car parking on-site. Visitors are encouraged to use the free public car park further along Church Road (in the direction of Ansty) and then walk the short distance to the cemetery.
